Hi, I'm Ian Mell from the UK. I currently work as a GI Development Officer in Cambridgehsire (UK) one of the largest growth areas in England. I researched at Newcastle University in the UK from 2005-2010 on GI, Sustainable Cities and Planning Policy and Practice. Since I left Newcastle in 2009 I have been researching the conceptual and practical development of green infrastructure as a practical way of planning in urban and sub-regional areas.
My work involves reviewing the developing holistic nature of green infrastructure and applying it to different areas of contemporary planning. This includes linking health, education, mobility, and social inclusion with the realities of planning policy and development.
My other research interests including urban forestry, urban design, sustainable urban development especially those looking at sustainable landuse, mobility, and water, and livelihood development. This has led me to work on European Landscape Policy for the Council of Europe and the UK government.
