DESCRIPTION
The EPA has embarked on a greening of their offices in downtown Washington DC. Along Constitution Avenue, you can see two rain gardens, but the real treat is the courtyard in the center of the building that showcases a number of LID techniques in artful and interesting ways. the site includes two rain gardens, 564 square feet of permeable concrete and permeable pavers, on 1128 gallon cistern that gathers water from a hardset plaza to be reused for irrigation, native vegetation, and various art features including a recycled granite bench, re-used farm implements and a recycled glass collar to the cistern.
