Introduced by Rep. Donna Edwards in December 2009, the Green Infrastructure for Clean Water Act of 2009 (H.R. 4202) calls for:

  1. Grants to states and local governments to implement green infrastructure projects for stormwater management and related water issues.
  2. The establishment of Centers of Excellence for Green Infrastructure across the U.S. for research and technical assistance.
  3. The establishment of a dedicated green infrastructure program within the EPA's Office of Water.

26 House co-sponsors as of March 2010; advocacy support from the Natural Resources Defense Council, American Rivers, the American Society for Landscape Architecture, and other partners.
