DESCRIPTION
The area was a former switchyard. It was unused during the cold war period, about 40 years. Instead of developing that community decided to transform it into a nature park. The project is absolutely amazing: was the rails were left, the vegetation is wild and the biodiversity is remarkable. Passages were built over the soil, there are many trails to walk, exercise. There are some interesting places to play, sit and relax. The old buildings and even a locomotive are open for visitors.

LESSONS LEARNED
Communities can avoid development is areas that have biodiversity and ecological value. It shows that is possible to look for opportunities for derelict areas to be used as public parks for recreation and relax. The real estate value of the area has increased. This is part of the Berlin tourist attractions.
